Oilfilter-mount, holes in thin casting..

The other day while I started prepping my 5.7 for buildup, I noticed something interesting.

Looking at/into the oilfilter mount, I noticed 2 little holes in the casting, besides the inlet-port leading into the oilfilter.
The holes were formed because the casting was thin enough there to break away.
Some gentle poking caused the edges of the holes to chip away more very easily.

Decided to enlarge and camfer one of the holes into the inlet-port and plan to do the same with the other one.

If I'm correct this is the pressure-side of the pump, right before the oil goes into the oilfilter.

Eventhough any metal that would come off during operation would be caught by the oilfilter, I rather not have metal just chip off like that.
