Ok, Am I crazy? Should I just cut my own hood?

I appreciate all the responses to my looking for a hood to cut for my TR, so I can race the car at a NHRA track. It seems these hoods are quite avail. and my thought is to save money, Should I just cut my own? If I ever need a stock hood they are available pretty reasonably. Odds are I will never go back to a stock car. Am I crazy?? Money is so tight right now. I would like to eventually get Fiberglass for the lightweight. Thoughts?

Reason for cutting is I have a tunnel ram on the car now and the strip I want to take it to (Fontana Speedway in SoCal with NHRA rules) requires a hood. I want a fiberglass one but you all know what happens with the I WANTS.
