i have a 75 and its on the firewall upper driver side corner. take a pic of the engine bay and fire wall and maybe we can help. i have seen them towards the center of the firewall too...
 
Well, this is your ballast resistor (incase you don't know what it looks like) .

Thanks for the pic. I was looking right at it, but was looking for the natural color. Here's a pic of mine. I guess I shouldn't look for the obvious.
 
:toothy10: them chameleon balist may be a little shy but they can be some nasty little devil's when they get up set and may burn you if you try and touch it after a long run
 
With the black paint on it I can see if it gone south.
The black paint captures the heat.
 
Very funny, everyone. I feel stupid. I have a box full of stuff from when I got my Charger. I think there's 5-6 resistors in it.
Don't know if the guy was a Chevy guy. All I know is someone gave the rig a $4.50 panit job. And a pi** pore job, to boot.
