As title says.
They are worse than ever, covering up what I want to read, about things that are beyond irrelevant, and not even an "x" to be able to delete them anymore. And "adblockers" DO NOT WORK. I spend more time here trying to delete them and otherwise working around them than I do trying to read what I came here for.
And then when I get 3-4 of them cover the screen when I'm trying to post, it pisses me off.
Strangely I saw a similar post on FCBO from someone else but I don't have nearly as much problems with ads there as here. I don't spend as much time there as here but because ads aren't as much of a problem there I don't have to.
Is it only a problem on the F(x)BO site a person spends the most time on?
It's not quite as bad on the home computer as in the phone but still horrible to work around there too. IM FREAKING TIRED OF THIS BULLSHYT
 
Well, shake the moths outta yer wallet and go gold. You EXPECT to be heard, listened to when youre too cheap to help the site $$$.
You've been here 15 years, how many gold memberships have you bought?
You could also clear you browser and delete cookies. :lol:

I've tried ad blockers. They work for a while then all of a sudden I get bombarded worse than ever to that point the flood gates open. And then the "x" doesn't work, except to open the damn ad, no way to delete it.... And. All admin can do is close these sort of thread saying "enough said" without doing a damn thing about the problem.
Not enough has been said until something is done to eliminate them.
 
Go Gold Membership, it figures out to 14 cents a day.

No ads, enlarged in box, move pictures in PM to help explain things to others.

Plus you help support the site. Biggest one is put an end to all the frustration and get onto more productive things.

Heck you could sell some of your spare parts to cover the Gold Membership...

Your Google Chrome web browser is 99% of the problem, Microsoft Edge too.

When it comes to advertising on this (and other) sites, the analogy I'm always reminded of is television: Advertising is the "necessary evil" that pays the bills.

Now it used to be that one could sign-up for Cable TV, and thus eliminate all (or most) of the annoying commercials, and thankfully that is still the case here on FABO.

Sadly, though, that's no longer the case for television.
 
I run Google, Windows 11 and the included Windows Security and don't have any issues on any of the sites. Hey, it's all free. You can expect ads. Do you still have ad issues on your PC or laptop? I can see it on a phone with the small screen.

I was just thinking about cable. It was supposed to be commercial free when it started. Not any more. Public television is even full of commercials. So far, rebroadcasts of shows on Netflix don't. :thumbsup:

I tried duck duck go and it worked for a while. A couple of others too. But come about 3 months from now I will get bombarded, the flood gates open and I see all the ads I "missed". And then some. Those ain't the answer either.

Revenue? Of course. The next time the FABO FREE site needs a software update or a new server may be you would like to donate a few thousand dollars.
 
Aside from all that's already been mentioned along with a Gold Membership you can bump your posted ads every 3 days instead of not being allowed to bump them at all.

.14 cents a day is cheap to save the time and frustration of watching ads. For what it's worth I pay $13.95 a month on YouTube to be ad free.

I used to not have to watch ads using AdBlocker & AdBlocker Plus, but Google (who owns YouTube) closed that loophole up, so I pay .46.5 cents a day now on that site.

Like it or not ads are how these sites are operated and profit to the site owner is what business is all about and free only goes so far.

***** all you like, but this is how it is. Pay the $50 once a year and enjoy all the new found time and lack of frustration that comes from it.

Gold member or not, you still need to post in the correct forum or risk Mikey 1 or 2 kung foo chopping your post. Also don't try to sell in general discussion posts Jackie Chan comes out then

Damn straight. We don't do it to be A holes, it's all about doing things right and following the rules.

Them too. It's all part of the accounts receivable. The ads generate operating income for the site as does Gold memberships. Members aren't forced to becoming a Gold member so they shouldn't complain about ads to help pay for a free website they are enjoying. . Just sayin'.
 
We also need our red x back why did we lose it when other F(x)BO sites still have it
