Cool to see. I must admit that new Dart looks pretty good in that color/trim. Time will tell whether it matches the old Mopar's longevity.

Interesting to see them close together like that. When I see the new Dart driving around I alway think it is such a small car, but it looks like it may actually be a little larger than the Swinger.

The new dart is a bic lighter. You throw it away when it's used up.
The old dart is a zippo. Add more gas and a flint and you're good for a long time more.

Let's see a side by side of the engines?!

Yeah, a lot more instructions these days as well. Check the owners/operators manual from '71 to an '02. Both are all in English. Challenger is 68 pages and the Durango is 276. Anyone have a new Hellcat manual?

Gotta remember, though, a lot of the newer manuals are also full of legalize which absolves the manufacture of all the liabilities from dumbass owners. Like "never set the cruise and fall asleep to let the car drive itself" or some such nonsense.

if they wanted to name the new dart for a car ma mopar made in days past that best embodied what it is now it would have been called the new neon

I bought my 2014 Dart about a year ago. Low budget no option car-- I didn't know you could get any car without A/C, cruise control, power locks or mirrors. A little under $13000 plus tax/ license, still getting 30 + mpg...30,000 miles already. But it's like most Mopars; they're not for everybody.

maybe us "older" guys, like the idea ( bout all it is now days??), of buying , putting our $$ in something that has a chance to LAST!???? the old dart, yes it would last!!!
yes technology has marched a long way.... 70 slant with 4 speed OD, 30 MPG (YES true).... now maybe ( dart) mid to high 30's ?????? wow!!! brain power!!???
sorry, I love the old cars, or if modern choice, give me a 20 year old TRUCK!!!!!

Just don't think I could enjoy a car with the "Dart" name that resembles nothing from the past and seems to be morphing into the foreign car look and design.
Just look at the new Mustang front end??? Nissan?? Or what.

Really?????

Thank God the Challenger design is a little nostalgic.

Difference is the slant is still a pig and boring to drive. That 4 banger in the new ugly dart will tear up the old dart all while getting 35+ mpg with the a/c blasting. Lol

I used the slant comparison making a point how much "mileage" has not really changed in 50 years. slant haters, drop in the v 8 of your choice!
maybe its my age, but I hate the looks of the new "dart". just me. I might really enjoy driving it, probably would. but I rather spend my $$ on something else.

Sure mileage has changed. Compare the what any said hp is getting mpg wise today compared to back then. mpg has gained light years. 425hp got what back then? 8mpg? Now it's getting in the 20's easily. Not sure anything that gets 30+ mpg today is anywhere near as big of a slug as that slant would be getting the same mileage.

Everything has its place and purpose. Old is cool but, new has its advantages. why not have both.

yes old is cool to me.... i'm 67, not in the mainstream of American wage earning! LOL so I stay away from car payments. it would be great to have a modern car with great power and mpg. but not on my plate and that's o k.
the point I was making, if you look at the mileage of the 70's slant, and look at how far the car companies have come in the last 45 years, i'm not impressed myself. that's a long time?? I give them cudos for finally making power and satisfying the EPA??
as far as the argument here on old vs new, slant vs SB, all that discussion is great. I have some of both. and I agreement all the pros and cons of both... and yes my favorite engine is a good stock 383 sitting in an early B body. just me..

I like both the old and the new. I'm amazed by all the technology crammed into our 2015 Mazda 3 (we need a hatch or we'd have bought a DART) compared even to our old 2010 Mazda 3.

I love both for different reasons - the one commonality is they are both great fun to drive - the M3 handles better, much better fuel economy and is very well built. The Duster is a time machine - power nothing, sounds totally badass and every time I drive it I feel like a kid again. And, yes, the Duster also has a coolness factor lacking in the Mazda.

The thing I am trying to say is that both cars are products of their times. While we may ***** about Chrysler naming the new car Dart, it is still a decent car at an affordable price. Which is what the old one was back in the day.
