This is a story of a woman who stood before a judge after shoplifting from her local supermarket.

When she went before the judge in Cincinnati he asked her, “What did you steal?”

She replied, “A can of peaches.”

Surprised at her calm demeanor, the judge asked her why she had stolen the can of peaches and she replied that she was hungry. Then the judge asked her how many peaches were in the can. She replied 6.

The Judge said, “Then I will give you 6 days in jail.”

Before the judge could actually pronounce the punishment, the woman’s husband spoke up and asked the judge if he could say something on his wife’s behalf. The judge said, “What is it?”

The husband said, “She also stole a can of peas.”

Before my Father passed away he told me he thought it might be entertaining to go to Walmart and get busted for shoplifting just for something different to do.

(He had some dementia and also Parkinsons)

I offered to take him.
I was serious and would have done it if that's what he wanted to do, but he forgot about it and it never came up again.
My Mother thought I was nuts, but what judge would do anything very serious about that if I explained the situation?

I guess I might have found out, if it would have happened.
