Locally, we have a twice a year classic car exhibition beachside. The coordinator called last week to remind me. i usually take one of my classic Mopars ('65 Formula S, '65 Valiant Signet Convertible, '72 Satellite Sebring Plus). At the end, the participants who pay about a $15 entry fee are all eligible for some modest door prizes (tee-shirts, free oil change, screwdriver set, etc.) I just enjoy watching the public clicking "selfies" with our cars in the background.
However, this weekend I need to bow out. Bonita, our 17 or 18 year-old Lhasa Apso mix is gravely ill. First it was the runs, then vomit, followed by the hopeless refusal to eat or drink anything. The vet pumped her up with all kinds of medications, but it does not look hopeful. After less than an hour, anything I "force feed' her with a syringe comes back up and lands on the floor. Just trying to make her feel comfortable while waiting for a miracle, or hoping there really is a dog heaven! One of those things you don't really practice for beforehand. We already have two other lovable dogs, so they will certainly help soften the final blow.
