I've got a 67 Barracuda and I've been following threads regarding changing out the 7-1/4 to an 8-1/4 or 8-3/4. The last guy said that will require going to a BBP. I was hoping to keep my SBP. The reason this is important is because I was thinking about changing to front discs, so I need to keep things the same. Have you guys noticed how one thing leads to another?

Were there any factory SBP options for the larger 8+ rear ends?

If you go with the 8 1/4 rear axle you can put 73-76 bbp disc brakes.
If you go with a stock A-body 8 3/4 axle you can use the 72 back
Kelsey hays sbp disc brakes.
These may be the easiest but there are many ways to get where you want to be
once you choose your bolt pattern.

Yep, if you want to stay with small bolt pattern, then go with 8 3/4 with kelsey hayes discs up front. They are 4" bolt pattern.

Thanks for the great info. I really appreciate your help.

Since I made the original post I looked up disk conversion from SSBC and noticed that the A-body hubs are drilled for a dual bolt pattern. So I could be covered either way on the front. I do have SBP 14" wheels, but keeping them is not manditory.

However it does look like you are saying that the 8-1/4 was NOT available with a SBP axles?

So one more question, does a 4.5" bolt circle imply 1/2" studs?

If I come across a rear end, I'm going to run it by you guys first for potential issues.
