What would be the best bearings for a bbp 7 1/4 and why? I'm building the car for mpg so there is no need to upgrade the axle for strength. Thanks for the input.

It's just a basic rear end, I would just go to your local parts store and get what's needed for that year.

Thanks. Just gona run a 206 slant (170 block +30 bore 198 crank) set up for mpg, so not gona stress anything.

Go to an AL shaft if you want mpg, use the lighter syn gear oil, get a elec fan, get lighter wheels, higher psi in the tires.
Get a very good carb and you'll be getting good mpg

i have had two 7 1/4 both i got new. blow the spider gears on LOW HP engines in LESS than 100,00. miles. sure go on and run it. but start saving money for a real rear end.

those spider gear failures aren't from normal driving, if you're after mpg you aren't breaking spider gears on a 7.25 even with a good 300hp and some spirited driving.
