Orange or Green Anti freeze?

The fluid in my 07 CTD is partially original. I had a plastic tank split on the radiator and I had to replace it a couple of months ago. Didn't flush it just topped it off. But it was original for 10 years.

I always thought it was certain minerals in the tap water people used that cause the breakdown of aluminum hence why you use premix, or a proper proportion of distilled or DI water and antifreeze.

Someone correct me if that doesn't sound right.

I can tell you for a fact, I used the green stuff and mixed it with tap water in my Duster, within 6 months white deposits starting showing up in the radiator.
Flushed everything out and mixed fresh green with distilled water and no deposits have showed up after 5 years.
