Hi guys. I recently cut myself some subframe connectors out of 2"X3" stock and will be welding them in soon. At the rear of the connectors; they come through the floor about a half inch or so. I got thinking that my next stage is a roll cage, so I thought as long as I'm cutting floors and welding in the frame; I would just make the outriggers at the same time. What I'm wondering is what the NHRA requires as far as mounting the main hoop of the cage? Will the 3" surface of the outrigger be sufficiant?

You can weld it right to the out rigger I believe. the rules say either to the frame or to a plate welded to the floor on sub frame cars.

I'm wondering this as well, but I thought there was a certain dimension the plate had to be; 4" square for example.

I wasn't sure how to read the book, so I welded a 6" plate to the floor, then bolted that to the outrigger. That's gotta pass tech.
