paint question

I am working on a 68 Cuda vert. While stripping one of the doors it occurred to me that I don't know if the black on the inside of the door should be painted before the red on the exterior. Does it matter?

I painted the the black first. Did base only. Taped it off and painted the rest of the car with base. Unmasked it and cleared everything at once. No tape lines that way but the car must be stripped to a bare shell to do it.
