Hey all, I’m sorry, I’m sure this has been asked and answered, but I can’t find it.

My 1966 Dart has a 318 swapped into it by a previous owner. With the casting numbers I’m able to pin down all the casting and assembly dates, etc, I know it’s a 1971 318, it appears with the original intake, carb, and manifolds. I’m not sure about the transmission or rear and, just that it’s a 904 tranny, and an 8.75 limited slip rear end. My question is, can I track down what type of vehicle it came out of, based on the partial VIN on the block? 1G127748. All I know is that it confirms that it’s a 71, and the car/truck was built in St Louis. Is there any other info about model or anything to be found?

Thank you!

Not really from that, other than finding out what line of cars were built in St Louis in 71. 318 could probably be found in everything they built.

Is there any way at all to tell what vehicle an engine came from? From any of the numbers, or anything at all? Not that it really matters, I just want to have as much information about my car as I can.
The numbers I’ve pulled so far:
Engine casting:2536030-4

67-74 318

Date Casting:2/4/69 day shift

Stamped front drivers side: GM318R 3359 0063

1971, Mound Rd, 318 Regular fuel, Dec 1, 1969 assembly, #63 that day

Stamped bottom pass. Side: 1G127748
1971, St Louis Assembly

Intake casting: 2951185
1970-71 2bbl

Transmission drivers side: 05305
77 with a bunch of squares after it

Rear end - 8.75

2881489 (tapered pinion shaft, 1969 to about 1974)

Have I missed anything from those numbers?
