Parts store dudes automatically defaulting to the MOST expensive parts they have.....

-
I’m in alberta canada and here we have the regular Napa like parts stores and we have specialty shops that sell just hi performance aftermarket parts. Most folks refer to them as a speed shop here.

i was making a joke about the demise and disappearance of speedshops...

When I've went to my local auto parts store, once I tell them what I need they never have started out with the higher price parts. Parts are probably cheaper on line because of the volume of business that they do. As far as NAPA counter people getting bonuses, the one's I knew never did. Depending on the store location and ownership some were paid a hourly rate plus commission.
commission 'is' a bonus Dan :poke:
neil.

As I have mentioned before in other threads I just figure out what I want using Rockauto and then shop Amazon or perhaps NAPA or other local places online. I'll stay away from some unknown brands and might even do some research in forums. If I decide to go into a store I have already established that they miraculously have the brand and part number that I want in stock. Also, unless the person behind the counter had been working in a shop recently that deals with the car you are shopping for how could they make a knowledgeable recommendation? Some places like NAPA might have people with some automotive experience from when they worked in a shop 20 years ago.

They are actually to different things, though some considered them the same They are not. A true bonus is based on total profits of the business while a commission is based on a percentage of your sales.
