Anyone on here have any experience with PEP crankshafts? I have a a buddy who had bought a brand new forged 4.150" stroke for a project and sold it the car. I can get the crank reasonable.. I assume it's and off shore forging like the eagle stuff. Just was wondering how they spec out.

.........talk to mike at MRL...............kim.........
Not sure who MRL is.. I have never heard of PEP up here in Ontario Canada.. I have read some good and some bad about PEP... I have used lots of eagle stuff.. some good some not so good lol... I mean it's not callies lol.. was just looking for someone with first hand experience with the PEP stuff

Well, if your buddy has possession of it, take a micrometer and measure it, then you'll know one way or the other. Asking for opinions doesn't really do anything, because each piece is a discrete case. One might be good, one might be the piece they trained the slack jawed idiot how to polish, with journals that look like roller coaster. S/F....Ken M

Hey man, it's not the easy way, but it's the right way. You're going to actually KNOW, one way or the other. Otherwise may as well spend the money on lottery tickets if you want to gamble. Good luck. S/F....Ken M

Most if not all of the $500-$700 crankshafts are made in the same plant in China. Then depending on who is buying them the degree and quality of finished product is established. Since price usually drives what most guys buy you get what you get. Sometimes they do require rework. There are only two companies that I have never had issue with. Scat & Molnar. I know for sure that Scat buys the semi finished cranks and does the finish machining in California. Tom Molnar used to run K-1 before he started his own company, Molnar, and I have bought several crankshafts and many sets of rods from him without issue. Considering all things these cranks are a bargain and have changed the cubic inch levels of our sport for very little money.

PEP Crankshafts are the same as 440 Source. I was told that is who makes them for 440 Source so any reviews for them would give you an idea of what they're like.
