Hey early A body guys! Do any of you have a photo that shows where the retainer tabs/clips hold the passenger side brake like on the firewall are welded? How many are there??

Maybe this will help. I will double check the number of clips tomorrow.

Man, that helps A LOT!!! My dumbass cut them off and smoothed them out when my dad and I smoothed the firewall thinking we'd route the lines somewhere else. Now I'm thinking the stock routing is best.

Looks like there's only two??

Are those tabs just thin mild steel spot welded to the firewall?

I think there’s only the 2 but will double check tomorrow. I suspect they’re just strips of metal spot welded to the firewall. I did clean up my firewall a bit - no hood torsion bars and no bracket in the middle for them either.

Yes and yes

Yep just the 2. They are 1/2 in wide and each seems to be a different length as well as spot welded differently and positioned differently to secure the brake line

hope this helps

Since you cut them off during the firewall smoothing, why not fab a couple up from scrap metal & use some small nice looking stainless bolts & nuts, or even a couple of stainless self tapping screws. One of our fine members can give you the dimensions as to where they should be mounted & you are on your way.

Or Adel clamps look great alkso and help with the vibratiion also.
