so the whole surface of the valance where the bezel fits to the body is a smooth curve.
I think this guy's valance has been damaged, but it is so uniform that it looks like an intentional part of the panel - a horizontal line that goes across the valance through both the holes for the back-up lights. I will try to post some pictures soon. I thought maybe he bought the wrong bezels.

all I can figure is it was backed into a horizontal bar perfectly evenly without the back-up lights in place - looks for all the world like it was made that way. The car was then painted that way - no scratches or scrapes. This car was in a shop for 20 years - the owner died and left the disassembled car to my friend.

Those mounting holes look way too low compared to the bezel hole.

Yep the rear valance is smooth and shouldn't have any of that wavy gravy in it.
