My pilot bushing is shot I believe. Makes an awful sound when the clutch pedal is depressed. Have a new throwout bearing installed which I thought was the problem. Failed to look at the pilot bushing before putting it back together UGHH. I really didn't want to pull the bell housing off and clutch out and I was wondering if I could just drive in the larger pilot roller type bearing in the larger crank cutout from the back with the clutch installed and just leave the old bushing in there. Anyone have any experience dong this??

Could the front bearing on the 4 speed tranny be the reason for the bushing failure? How can you tell if it is good? Thanks.

I would say do it the right way the first time so you want have to do it all over again. I have tried half assing it on a few things and it just isn't worth it especially if you have to pull the tranny.
