So I recently acquired a set of richmond 3:55 gears from someone here. When they arrived they had been loosely packed in that styrofoam ****. It looks as if some of the pinion teeth got lightly chewed, maybe due to chattering during shipment. This damage is at the out board end of the teeth and looks as if it will clean up easily with a file or diegrinder. Will it affect the gear life if I clean the pinion up and install it?I'd rather not return the gears as I could make use of them.

Can you post a pic of the damage. It's usually not recommended to grind on the teeth as this may effect the hard surfacing if you take to much off.
