I think your a little confused . Pinion gears ( like ring and pinion) are for the differential. They should be replaced as a matched set with the pinion/ An A-833 is a 4 speed transmission, which don't have a pinion gear to my knowledge
 
I am talking about the speedo pinion gear, the one that goes into the A-833 to correct for gear changes in the rear end.
