A few days ago I put my two cents in on a thread about piston rocking in the bore of a 340, and I said that I had read somewhere that if you drill some holes in the skirt of the piston, this may help to stop the piston from rocking.
Well, while reading one of my old MOPAR MUSCLE mags, July 2009, page 46 it shows a pitcher of a piston with holes drilled in it with the caption: The skirts of the Ross pistons were drilled in an effort to keep the piston from rocking in the bore. Mike claims this modification equalizes pressure between the piston and the cylinder wall, and prevents the piston from rocking and scuffing the cylinder.
These modified pistons were used in the AMSOIL/MOPAR MUSCLE CHALLENGE. I know I read this some where!.
