72 and earlier A-body the center link stud on the pitman points up. On the 73 and later, the stud points down. This is on the MANUAL steering box. Forget about large and small sector!

What you've said here is not only correct for manual steering boxes as you've stated, but it is also correct for power steering boxes as well. The '72 and earlier pitman arm is the same part number for both manual and power steering.
