I am kicking around an idea that might make me a little spare change, but I think I would need a plasma cutter to do the work efficiently. I've looked over a bunch of them on ebay. A couple of questions for anyone that has one or used one.
Some of them come with 120/220 input. Does the 120 model work good?
Most of the ones I've been looking at usually have a "40 something" model or "50 something" model, like 40DX & 50DX. Are the 50's that much better?
What do you have?
I would be cutting up mostly thin sheet metal.
Thanks,
C

Here @ Cummins Engine INC....We use a Miller 320 Plasma Arc, it is 220V, and it will cut anything from 20 GA up to .75" Plate and with the correct tip it will do it no sweat.

Hand Work with a plasma is tedious when you want to get intricate.

If you plan on making silouettes or what not, look into:

www.plasmacam.com

kinda pricey to get started, but you could make a killing manufacturing your own products and selling them online or locally.

Thanks for the info. I didn't see the price of it, but I will look some more...

My buddy threw out his 110v plasma, he got tired of it not cutting clean, and up to the specified thickness. It was a name brand model not a harbor freight special. Pissed me off that he tossed out the other one, hell I would of used it as trade in fodder.
