the bolts, you can get at any auto parts store, as long as you dont need the stock flat crosshatched sections on em

(i run a generic set of autzone bolts on my duster, have for half a decade, 400 plus small block, never an issue

IMHO

You need the flat to distribute the point load of the U bolt.

Without it it is very easy to crush an 8 3/4 axle tube.

I have posted many a photo.

Also 45 lbs is the torque spec.

You may be right

Ma mopar went through the extra effort and cost to flatten them, so there must have been a reason for it

All I can tell you, is that my tubes are not crushed
