That's an odd duck!

The flange where the nuts rest is typically flat.

My assumption is its a 50's version

2467-### parts start showing up in the 64 parts book

Can you get clear closeup photos of these areas? and any other marking on the case?

Are there any marking on the ring gear? also photos of the bolt on tag.

if the car is still in the shop i will see if i can get a close up of the area. also a normal pinion snubber from a regular 489 case does not fit at all

I noticed the landings for the snubber were different heights or maybe staggered.

Hard to tell from the photos

If you can get a photo of the axle housing too

IF it's an early 8 3/4, they are the same as a 741 case, if I remember correctly.

So I reached out to the rear end guru, Cass at Dr Diff.

He says that the casting was used in some mid 60's C bodies and has internals interchangeable with 742 castings. He has no idea why as it was not an HD or HP option.

And the mystery deepens!

I have one that the number came back as a '57-'64 and I was told that it was basically a 742.
Fresh4.10 but sadly, non sure grip
Has a shiny gold anodized yoke on it looks freshly redone.

not new just bead blasted and new seal pattern checked good so its on the road
