Police: 7 Dead in Likely Drag-Race Crash

-
That sounds terrible, I fell for the families and the ones that got involved
in this terrible accident.

So let's keep it neat on the streets and fast at the track!! OK.:angry7:

Shoulda' turned on the local news this morning. I know well where that is. Its a major artery from So Md to DC. Only 15 minutes from me. LOTS of drag racing, high speed rice rockets, 55mph zone, I was doing 70 there the other day and people were flying past me. Pretty much a straight road for at least 5 miles. What a shame.

I too feel for the families of the victims.
We have to remember this is an active highway and not a section of abandon
road they should never have been standing in the middle of it. And thank god
the truck that had to swerve wasn't there before the car it could have been more tragic.

I'm not getting this. Fans standing in the road? Truck swerves, car hits people, neither of which connected with this "race," be it drag, street, whatever?

Somebody has some explaining to do.

why do these people always stand at the finish line...rookies

If I understand it right from the CNN article, they were at the side of the road, but moved into the highway to watch the cars race away. The smoke and the darkness made it impossible to see ahead.

Now, as has already been metioned, this is obviously a terrible tragedy for the deceased' families. And not condoning racing on public roads one tiny bit.

But seems to me, walking out onto a busy highway is a pretty good way of getting killed. And quite stupid - regardless of what the motivation for doing that might be.

Said it once i'll say it again IDIOTS like this, give people who race LEGALLY at sanctioned tracks a bad name!!!

That's odd.
I put both links in the thread from ATT.
Now the first link takes you to the second link.
(In other words, the first link has changed or moved)
I can't explain any of it.
Neither the mysteries of the internet, or why people were hit by anyone.
But I did search for the original title and it is an AP article so here it is again for anyone that missed it and cares.

looks to me like the IDIOTS were the ones who were standing in the middle of a busy highway, drag racing or not a car that did not see them would of still done the same amount of damage to them. And obviously the choice of the people to stand in the middle of a highway got them killed.

EXACTLY! More often than not, it is the spectators that get killed.
