Dose the black residue ever stop coming off stainless steel as you polish it? I polish and polish and it still is black.

Funny this came up today since I was polishing my window trim last night. The more I polished, the more black residue was there. I got to a point where I stopped, and wiped it off with a clean towel. The trim looks shiny and new.

No, as it is a byproduct left over from polishing and imbedded in the surface of the metal.
There is a cleaner called Barkeepers Friend that cleans it off really well.
We use it for stainless appliances because of this residue.
It's a lot like Comet but made for stainless and other surfaces.

Some say mineral spirits works also but I have never tried it since the Barkeepers Friend works so well.

Agreed. It will continue to come off black as long as you keep polishing. Its addicting, lol. The more you rub, the more shine you get, lol. Eric L

Yea its shines but I feel like I have to keep polishing

Maybe I'll give it to my wife and tell her to polish it till its clean

I tried that before…it wasn't at ALL what I thought she was going to do.

But the stainless looked great when she was done. Lol. Sorry. I couldn't resist. Lol

I've been married 47 years. She would get a brillo pad
