Got a trade offer on a '63 GT, not sure what size 6, but it's an original white car with red interior, solid Texas car, overall complete. I like it, but I'd rather a later Mopar and one that a V8 could go in more easily. How hard is it to get a V8 in here, what about a big block? Also what is the popularity and value of these Darts?

swapping a v-8 will be difficult, a bb even more so. as to value those cars do not bring much coin when fixed nice.

That car is missing vital items headlight ring & the taillights.
what condition is the interior ?

do a search v8's have been installed --
very small group of buyers for that year .

they are cool rides though, Lawrence

Beauty =$$$$ is in the eye of the beholder...it's only worth what someone is willing to pay!!..that being said, You can easily drop a small block in.. all you need is schumacher kit...no need to change k frame......BBLock...forgetaboutit!!!!!LOL...not enough room..oh it can be done, however huge $$$...stroke a small block and you can lite up that little dart!!... Parts are out there....you just have to search....no repops on exterior trim....interior is available....I just went through all this a couple of years ago on my 66....good luck

I love my 63 GT. Bought it four years ago. This is my second 63 GT, the first I had a few years in the early seventies. What I have in it is a 273 with headers, hipo pistons, D4B intake and 600 cfm carb. The tranny is a 904 and the rear end 8 3/4, 3.23 SG. Right now I'm working on putting a aftermarket shifter in the console.
My advice is, go for 63 GT, there are not many that do.

Part of what makes these little cars so fun is the fact they're not worth a lot compared to an early Nova or 1st gen Mustang. A V8 swap is no more difficult than in later cars aside from the narrow selection of headers.

:toothy7:

What makes the 1'ST gen Darts 'more fun' (IMHO)...

Is the 2560# shipping weight.

Damn thing is a go cart uni body for V/8 psychos :D

P.s, shipping weight for the 1'ST gen 'cuda'= 2740#

buy the Car !!!

Apologies gents , notes from an old hydrocarbon terrorist. :D

if you rather have a later car then don't settle for this one. v8 should be a cake swap. headers are expensive as hell for them though and very tight fitting. need the right motor mounts and centerlink and a 904 trans. big block is an easy swap also (actually easier to work on too in my opinion), but header need to be custom made and you need to do tunnel work to get the 727 in there.. fun *** car with a big block for sure but an expensive swap...

as far as how popular they are.. not very. they have their following but over all aren't all that popular. if/when you sell it you'll not get anywhere near what a later car will bring. i love early a-bodies but thats just the way it is..
