Why are post A-bodies so hard to find. a while back I was looking for a 68 valiant and couldn't find one Did the racers get them all? Jim

Post type A-bodies are more solid than hard tops, so maybe the racers got some of them for that reason BUT adding sub frame connectors(the weld-in type) will greatly improve the handling and solidity, among other things.

Most of them were just cheap cars that people ran into the ground. They were cheap, disposable cars. That's the main reason most of them are long gone. Actually, any A-Body was a relatively cheap car. The fancier, or hi-performance, models which are usually the 2-door hardtops, seem like they were better taken care of and that's why there are more of them left.

People preferred the 2 door hardtops over the 2 door sedans. It wasn't cool back then to be seen driving your grandpa's sedan. :)
