I found a powder coater nearby that I was considering using. A co-workers husband told me he was having a pair of vintage M/T valve covers done by them. He also said it was costing him $125. Is this price accurate? I was thinking of having my steel road wheels coated semi-flat black along with some smaller brackets. Judging by the quote on the valve covers I'm afraid to hear what the wheels will cost....

Can someone give me an idea what this would/should cost? I don't want to get raked over the coals.... :eye:

Thanks guys! :thumrigh:

Sounds high to me too..... Me thinks with the popularity of American Chopper/Overhaulin/Rides etc. powder coating has become popular, and price matches demand.

<sigh....> I wonder how much that Eastwood home powder coat kit costs?

Problem is you need an oven big enough to bake the part you're coating. And I doubt the lil' lady will let you use hers. :P

If they are charging $150 a rim (guesstimate) then for the $600 you could buy the powdercoater & an old used oven & coat a few other parts too. They do sell infared light to cure it too.

I agree with Brad you would be better off to buy the kit and do the parts yourself.

And maybe do some for all your good friends on the board! :geek:

I had a guy do my 15X7 Rally's for my '73 RoadRunner and He charged me $200.00. He thought I was wasting my money......didn't feel they were worth as much as the "rare" Hurst wheels he was doing for a Pontiac guy.
