Yep, you can reuse the lines from the PB but it looks cleaner if you get the correct lines. I would go to Dr Diff for the lightweight master and adapter and I believe he has the brake rod too. Here is my 74 before and after the swap, sorry I don’t really have a close up of before. Not sure but just remove booster and get correct push rod ? I'm sure someone will chime in.
Two people said you need a manual brake pushrod, or an adjustable pushrod for manual brake applications. I’ll be the third. This is all you need.I'll take the Booster off, and then what parts will I need. Is there a plate at the firewall or anything else? I have heard pushrod length is different?
And they don’t leak! I could never get the old style to not eventually leak from the lid.Two people said you need a manual brake pushrod, or an adjustable pushrod for manual brake applications. I’ll be the third. This is all you need.
if your car had disc brakes before which I think you said it did, you can use the same master you have now Providing it works and doesn’t leak. Being a 1974 it likely already has a 15/16” bore master which is fine for the conversion.
if you need a new master any reason in particular you wouldn’t want the aluminum 2 post master? They Never rust and don’t look like crap over time.
No plate at the firewall, unless you're adapting the late master cylinder. No pushrod on power brakes, the offset linkage bolts directly to the pedal- the booster has a rod that pushes the master cylinder.I'll take the Booster off, and then what parts will I need. Dude, I'm doing the same darn thang! That's a new booster I have I just don't like the way it feels man, all I have left to do, is get that modified Dakota master cylinder from Cass and then I'm good to go!74 Duster -Want to get rid of the Power Booster and convert to Manuel Disc Master Cylinder set up. What parts will I need?
Thanks for any help.
So on the 74 duster I have with the power booster once I removed that I don't need the big steel plate like was on my 66 satellite behind the manual master cylinder? No plate at the firewall, unless you're adapting the late master cylinder. So, since you are removing the booster (and linkage) you need a pushrod. #4.
Nope. That's a B and maybe E body thing. So on the 74 duster I have with the power booster once I removed that I don't need the big steel plate like was on my 66 satellite behind the manual master cylinder?
Thank You Sir! I had a half of a 66 satellite with the backing plate on it, it was just friend of mine's house, and he sold his property. I didn't have anywhere to put it, so he crushed the whole fn half a car (with the front clip, trans cross, rad core support, lower rockers, shock towers, and some other good stuff,) a 727 (small block) and a 318 truck motor... that small block transmission was built my brother Cuda Brian's dad. He was a transmission specialist his entire life... after he passed away, that unit pulled out of his truck, and got put in the Duster, before I swapped the 340. This Punk he stored the car at, took it down the road and threw it in reverse it about 35 miles an hour, (but that transmission supposedly was filled with a bunch of good stuff) we think it may just have snapped the pump ears off (or did something else) it really don't matter now I guess I won't get to it now... China has got some more good American ****....Sorry for Rant. I mainly wanted that transmission cuz it was my friend's father's not because of what was in it just because of what it meantNope. That's a B and maybe E body thing.
You can just tweak the power brake lines, that’s what I did when I just removed the booster. You can find the lines on eBay for pretty cheap though, I used this:How about the brake lines. Do I need a set for Manuel Brakes, or can I manipulate the power brake lines?
