when going from power to manual stearing, is this as simple as replacing the geabox? are other steps needed like maybe replacing the pitman arm?

Should I stay away from cheap gearboxes on ebag?

Thanks

I dont have 1st hand knowledge, but pwr steering columns and manual columns are different lengths, so I believe you would need to swap the column as well.

You will need a power to manual column adapter & a manual pitman arm. The ps box is longer & your column will be too short without the adapter or swapping columns

You can keep your power column and buy a adapter from a place like Firm Feel. Or swap out the entire column to a manual column. The manual column is 3" longer.

I like the Firm Feel power to manual steering adapter.
Used gearboxes can be a crap shoot. Some will work just fine some loose as a goose. Firm Feel,Flaming River make new gearboxes.
As far as pitman arm. Buy a new one. No sense in throwing an old shot out one
back on.
