I think I'm going to need to replace the pitman shaft seal on the power steering box in my 383 Dart. The service manual says it can be done in the car, using special tools. My question is, has anyone done this and where can I get the tools ??

TIA,

Mark.

Special tools required are.. pitman arm puller, snap ring plier.
Once everything is removed except the seal, start the engine, rev it up and steer to end . The seal will blow out into your drain pan. Works every time but can be a little messy.

I forgot to mention the 1&5/16 socket. 33mm is close but may be too small. 34 mm works with shim stock to fill the gap.

Thanks for the info. What bugs me is this is a brand new Steer and Gear box. I'd really hate to have to pull it out and ship it for warranty work.....
