Hi everyone. I'm new to the website and had a question about my 1970 Dodge Dart. Are there shims that are used between the frame and power steering gearbox when installing a new one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Steve

I have never seen any shims under the gearbox. Of course you should never say never when it comes to Chrysler products. Who knows maybe they were used in some situations but, I have taken a lot of them apart and not seen one yet

The service manual shows the use of shims if required, I have shimmed mine to resolve pitman arm issue with the currently sold fast ratio arms, I needed to rotate the steering box about the output shaft axis in order to have equal length tie rod ends, was no issue to do it, just made them up, wedge shaped sh as to not load the steering box bolt holes and in fact my steering column actualy now fits much better through the firewall.
