Power steering shaft

I just got done redoing my steering column. For some reason the shaft don't look long enough for power steering.

I have my old p/s shaft from a 69 dart -- in the garage-- I'll go measure & get some pics-- what all do need to know ? Lawrence
 
I agree with 65 dartman probably the shear pin.

If you could just measure form the end of shaft to the column tubing. That will give me overall idea.

There is a plastic like stuff that the factory injected into the steering shafts so if you get in a accident it collapses. I wish I could tell you how to fix it I have heard of ppl drilling a hole threw both shafts and put a plastic pin in it to hold it. Mine slides in and out also but the stuff they put in there makes it hard to push/pull it I`m putting a flaming river U joint and shaft in my car so its not such a big deal.
