Pre-drilled crankshaft?

A buddy of mine recently bought a 1974 valiant, factory 318 automatic car. He’s gonna sell me the engine out of it. I’ve got a 833 four speed I’m planning on putting behind it. Is the crank already predrilled to accept a pilot bushing, or will I need to have it drilled?

Most likely not drilled.

You can have them drill it if the crank needs to be ground or just make a pilot bushing that registers on the torque converter register. That's what I do.

probably need it drilled. Most automatic cranks weren't drilled but some have found they have been.

If the crank isn't drilled you'll probably have to cut the nose of the tranny.

I have yet to have a 318 that was not drilled for a standard.
Maybe I am just lucky, and this has been with numerous cars, and different trans.

I've had the opposite luck. Only once have I been that fortunate and it was a truck motor out of an m880

Every one of them have been, the only one that I am not sure of is a 318 out of a 73 charger I am getting ready to build a boost motor out of, I just have not checked it because I am going to run an auto behind it.
Its on an engine stand, buried in my out-building, I will check it tomorrow evening and report back.

Won't help you much. You'll need to confirm it on whatever engine you get to be sure
