I was hoping to hear what the general consensus is on procomp or speedmaster heads are? I would be running them on a 340 with Hughes rockers and Ferrara valves with a solid roller cam plus a ton of Port work. What I am looking for is to know is if they are a decent raw casting from which to build from.

Subscribed. I have a bare set of these that have not been worked or have valves installed. I am curious as well.

I have been checking out the MaxPro small block head that Jegs lists on its website. May buy a set to port soon. Sorry ProMaxx

Pretty sure those are what Mike at MRL works with. outstanding guy and rep......heard those heads can build pretty big power.

MRL is doing crazy airflow, with these castings.. Any bare castings: have the valve guide clearances,& ESPECIALLY VALVE JOB..,inspected..(Just my opinion...).Please install good hardware, seen people spend good money, cheap out on small details. Set,your budget .. correctly..They are nice,, nothing long lasting is cheap..!?!?!!?!?

The guides are soft . Have to be replaced . They are not a common OD. Precision Engine Parts [ PEP ] is one source for them .
