Every year, our Gray, Georgia Dairy Queen has "Miracle Treat Day" with 100% of the proceeds going to the local children's hospital in Macon, The Beverly Knight Olsen's Children's Hospital. Yup. 100% of every single sale for a whole day. Last year, over 150K dollars was raised. This year, we have a lot more new businesses on board and expect to make a lot more. It's amazing to see everyone come together to make this happen. This is Justin Kelly, who owns this particular Dairy Queen and he is a real firecracker when it comes to making good things happen! The video is a little long, but watch it if you like. Just listen to the planned organization! This is how you get things done in a small town!

That's great! Now imagine if BIG cities did stuff like that.

I enjoy when you share things about your town, like the Christmas parade and I think Santa was the sheriff. Good stuff right there.

Well now you've got me thinking, but I thought the sheriff was involved somehow. Starting to sound like a television show haha.

Butch usually dresses up as the Grinch at Christmas. He was just honored earlier this year as the longest serving active Sheriff in Georgia.

Here's Justin with the total for today. It may change (increase) a little tomorrow as there's always some folks that give after it's over. Kitty and I had a blast up there today. I'm sure the fire marshall was happy that four times as many people fit into a building than should have. LOL

Here is a Jones County Sheriff's Department drone video that shows how small our town really is, but how BIG we can turn out when something needs to be done!
