Hello Folks,

I'm slowly reassembling the 67, 4-Door, Valiant Signet after bodywork and paint. It's been a long strange trip!

I did a search and I saw a post dealing with this from 2013, but thought I'd be remiss and irresponsible if I didn't mention this (!), and perhaps it might be a helpful warning to others, or an opportunity for clarity.

I'm putting on the 4 outer door handles. I was lucky enough (or obsessive enough!) to have 2 Front Right door handles. One was the P/N from the 67's Part Book, 2486704 and the other was 'ol s/a subsequent 3454390. Like the other poster said, 10 yrs ago, the 3454390 left a gap, between the thumb button part of the handle and the door surface. It also didn't contour front and back very well and was 'difficult to insert' :). Luckily I had the 2486704. Same problem on the other side with 3454391. I didn't have a new 2486705 for the left so I had to clean up and put the original driver's handle back on. Is this a know issue? Is it just a bad batch? Is it not a problem on other A-Bodies? Will only a 2486705 fit a 67, 4-Door Valiant? Yours in wonderment.
