Puerto Rico

Been there multiple times for work. I spend most of my time in Ponce which is on the opposite side of San Juan (South). If you are in San Juan you should check out Old San Juan, cool downtown area. Good places to eat in Ponce though, and a real nice golf course / resort / casino - which is the hotel my company has me stay at - not a bad gig!

Traveled down there for 12 years in sales. As ToddP stated Old San Juan is a pretty neat place to walk, eat & drink. If your interested in history check out the fort if you have time and the Bacardi rum plant has tours. There is the Condado area where the beaches are in San Juan which you go by when leaving the airport. A lot of night life there with restaurants, hotels/casinos, bars and shops. Most everyone I ever worked with or met spoke english so you shouldn't have any problems conversing unless your in one of the smaller towns. Puerto Rico has their own brewery and the beer of choice is Medalia.

Have fun!

Ive never been there but my wife has a number of times. Here father still owns a house there and he goes a few times a year.

Been there a few times. Go to El Yunque, the rainforest that's not far from San Juan, there's a waterfall you can climb around on and take a refreshing dip. If you can, take a day and drive up into the mountains, it is a rare chance to experience a Caribbean island that's safe and you're still on American soil. A dish you will see on menus called Mofongo Relleno is a must-try, it's green plantains with garlic and bacon that's mashed to form a crust for whatever meat or seafood and sauce they put inside. I'm envious, it's a fun place, don't know if I'll ever make it back there...please take pics.
