hey guys! I just bought a 1970 dodge dart swinger but am not familiar with what type of body style it is. How do you know if it's A,B,C,or D? Also I just joined this site so where do I find a rear seat for the 70 dart? Thanks!

It's an A-Body, otherwise you wouldn't be here right? :D A back seat can come from another Dart usually, check E-bay or ask around here. Oh, BTW 70 is a late A-body, soon to be a mid-generation A-body, with the 2013 Dart cming out and all.

I'll tell you: A-Bodies are considered compact cars, they ususally have a 111" wheelbase. B-Bodies 116"-117" wheelbase, and C-Bodies have 123" wheelbase. They do not have big blocks, with some exceptions. Everything about the car is less heavy duty than B or C Bodies (less leafs in rear springs, lower rate torsion bars, transmissions and rear axles, etc.), again with some exceptions. E-bodies are a totally different animal, they are either convertibles, or 2-door hardtops, they come with a STRONG emphasis on performance. E-bodies ride on either a 108" wheelbase (Ply) or a 110" wheelbase (Dod). If this don't get it, I'll need a clarification on what info you DO want. :)

Search, Study, Study. As far as the seat, you can look in the '' interior parts for sell" on this site. Most members I have dealt are good people. Good Luck. Throttle to the floor.

you have a 67-72 Abody most components from you car can carry over from 73-76 like control arms, brake kits, rear ends, etc. etc. You can also use parts from 67-76 on your car because the basic layout is the same for each year however there are small differences. Example your doors have vent windows liek all 67-72 a bodies but you can use doors off of a 73-76 you just need all the other parts for the door and the weather strip for the 73-76 door. Does this help?

The How will come with time and experience. The more you stay in this hobby with your Dart, the more you will pick and catch on.
Attending shows such as Mopar Nationals, Mopar Monster Weekend and other Mopar shows, you'll pick up a ton of knowledge. This forum is also a great source and wealth of info. But here is a list of the body styles, it's not complete, but maybe a little to much for a newbie.

The back seats for 2 door and 4 door cars is different because of the rear wheel cutouts.

Thanks guys for all the info on this question. I'm looking forward to this project as I used to have a 73 swinger. If it quits snowing maybe I can get the new gas tank installed after I remove the old muffler and all the stuff that will have to be replaced before I undercoat the car. Work Work Work.... but FUN!!!!
