I need to replace the rear axle in the 64 moredoor valiant, it has a 7 1/4 with 3:23 gears. I have only been able to find 2:76 geared rearends, I don't want to use that gear ratio as I am afraid I will lose some of the umpf from the slant 6 and automatic. We do use the car for camping so it gets loaded down, are the 3:23 axles that hard to find. What about finding a 8 1/4 with a higher ratio, are they out ther or is it also a crap shoot. The rear with have in the car now howls quite loudly.......any suggestions?

Mid/late sixties made available 2.93's 7 1/4 but the 2.76 were the dominate in the 7 1/4, I do have a set of 63-64 7 1/4 3.55 gears that came off a 63 dart w/suregrip. I also have some after market 3.55's laying around but theres a tiny chip on 1 of the ring teeth, no big.
