The manual gearbox in my '65 Barracuda is shot. All the catalogs I've checked say their gearbox will only fit 66-74 A-bodies. Is this true? Is there a way to adapt this gearbox to my '65?

The interchange is '62-6 as a direct replacement part. There are two versions....a bushing version and a bearing version. they will both work but the bearing version is heavier duty. You can also use the '67-72 version but the mounting holes are a little bigger in diameter. Just make sure the bolts are tight or make some small bushings to tighten the clearence between bolt and housing. The '73-up boxes have too big a pitman shaft for the early pitman arm.

Thanks! So I guess from what you posted if I order one for a '66 it will work.

Assuming the vendor knows the interchange and sends you the correct one.....
