how much power can a stock flex plate withstand? its for a 318/904 with a PTC 3000 stall converter. performance rebuilt 904 with red clutches and kolene steels, transgo 2 shift kit.

355 sure grip rear. my 318 has about 375 horsepower, with nice cam, rpm manifold, roller rockers, RHS heads from brian, ...

can the stock flex plate handle this power?

i need to know so i can continue with the engine/tranny install tonight. :)

heres my stock unit:

Sorry 318,tried to p.m. you. Did not work out, I apologize.

Use SFI stuff and you never need to worry about (thats what I did).

well, i do have an sfi approved flex plate with ARP 7/16 bolts...problem is....my aftermarket 3000 stall PTC converter has mounting tabs for a 5/16 bolt only....i shoulda checked that when i first got it, but i went ahead and used the stock stuff for now. i dont have time to wait to send my converter back to cope racing trans and have them install new 7/16 mounting provisions....
