quick question

-
just wondering out loud, but with the short profile i would think that you would be more prone to sidewall damage from potholes and what not??

geez, lotta info. I def want some meaty tires, but unfortunately also want a bigger wheel. I hate the look of a car with like 17 or 18 with super thin tires, they always look out of place. I guess I need to find the balance. My thought was an 18 in rear, 17 in front. Have a meatier tire in rear and less so in the front. ???????????

I haven't seen 18s on an A-body. The 8 inch width and 4.5" backspace are crowding the limits of what I have seen people do with 15 inch wheels. I have seen some 17s running a 50 series tire that I thought looked OK. IMO that's as far as I would care to go. Cragar makes an old-school looking wheel sort of like the Boss 338 in a 17 inch size. Check this out 17 x 7 and see if it makes the cut.

If you can get this with a 4¼ offset, you should be good to go.

If the streets where you drive aren't so good e.g. potholed, low sidewall height=rim damage. Good luck.
