Race Hemi Orange Paint Code

-
Race hemi orange is WAY more yellowish than hemi orange engine paint, or the body paint that's also called hemi orange. I don't have the paint code, wish I did.
I was searching for race hemi a while back, unhappy with the durability and coverage of the Mopar paint, especially since,it is now expensive if you can find it, (I believe it's disco'ed).
Talked with Bob Mazzolini, he said he had some good stuff. His can was marked OMAHA ORANGE, I was leary, he said try it.
He was right, color is dead on, covered well, I'm happy so far.
This probably doesn't help, other than to testify that Omaha orange and race hemi are the same color. I believe Bob has packed it in due to health problems.
(The krylon in the pic is close, but no cigar. Bob's paint is on the far right.. The four stripes on the cardboard were for color comparison..? Original Mopar, krylon, and omaha)

I wanted to try KBS Motor Coater, but I couldn't find race hemi. I have since found out they do have it.
Sorry, can't remember the code. I've got it in my tablet somewhere, but I can't find it right now.

Edit: wow! Went thru this thread again, and there's the kbs code in post#21!

Yeah, I was looking at Omaha orange. It's a 50's-60's dodge truck color. It looks pretty close, but who knows by looking at a computer.

No, the car is the color. The Hemi engine was painted with rattle can Hemi orange from auto store, you don't want that. The inverted small block is race Hemi orange. Who was the guy that did engine paint? Thought his last name was Herscher , Bill? It was something like that. The engine in my avatar is race Hemi orange. From post #29, looks like you want early orange.

Thanks guys. Anything close will work for me. I'm got a plan of action. I just wish there was a published Ditzler code for the paint shop to bring up in their library.

I would contact Hirsch. I didn't have any luck trying to maneuver on his website. The next engine paint that I buy will be from him, I am tired of the auto store crap that takes 2 cans to cover an engine block.
Good luck to you.

He was selling paint as since the days off paper ads in magazines and Hemmings

Totally Auto had proprietary formulas that were from working with compared to orginal paint. Looks like that was sold to the 1st link I posted
Years ago talking with my Dupont and PPG
Looks like the products to mix orginal formulas are no longer available.
Doing just one color in newee available paint products would require a mix and srapy out and tint to match a known good sample.
And doing so for all the colors would be a major investment.
Note
I do not have any connection with the link I m posted.
But
Looking at the cost of a quart of correct paint that just needs reduced and hardner is not badly priced. They did the work to get it right.
Of course anyone with a known good sample could have the local paint jobber scan and save a few dollars and shipping.
Thus the reason the thread was starred.

Luckily, I've got a couple really good paint supply shops in my town. I've also got a couple engines I'll be painting. One of the shops will be able to mix me up some good catalyzed urethane.

EV2 orange is the standard orange with out metallic.
I used to have access to my friends shop paint system. You could get a sample to scan prime a test card put 3 coats and see how it compares. Adjust. It would have required quite a bit to do what Totally Auto did to have the whole shebang done.

Thanks. EV2 is quite a bit more red than race hemi orange. I appreciate the thought though. I'm going to give Ditzler ppg 60242 a shot. That'll be close enough for me.

According to this site, the current hemi orange is the same as the race version:

The Power of Color

RACE HEMI® (ENGINE) ORANGE

Mopar (P4120751) was the bright orange color you’d find on the 1962-64 Max Wedge engines. The popular shade also found its way onto the 1964-65 426 Race HEMI® engines and the 413 and 426 Cross Ram truck engines. The color came to signify power during the era and is still used today on new HEMI engines.
