So yesterday was the first time I've had my car out this season... The only thing I did in the off season was change the intake gaskets and ditch the modified 3310 carb I had for a 750HP.

The air was ok, around 1700 feet. Temps were in the 70s, humidity low.

1st run... The car felt nice nice and strong during the burnout, but the engine temperature was low. I knew it'd bog, and it did. I left at 2500 RPM, had a .220 RT (the guy in the other lane was red by over 300, he kinda spooked me). 1.761 60', 12.563 @ 105.26. That's about a tenth better than it did last season.

2nd run... Had some heat in the motor, so I left at 3000 RPM with no bog. .099 RT, 1.713 60', 12.569 @ 104.13. Another 12.56, I wonder what I should dial? ;-)

1st round of eliminations... Dialed a 12.56 and left at 3000 RPM again, .004 RT to a .042, 1.706 60', 12.562 @ 99 MPH (I got off the gas when I didn't see the other guy next to me). He ran a 11.234 on a 11.23 dial, but I got there first and beat him by .0406. W00t!

Then the rain came. The jet dryers came out, then the rain came again. Then the dryers, then more rain. Finally, 5 hours later they call my class again. I figured that the last run would've been a 12.53 had I kept my foot in it, so I dialed that. The temp dropped a little and the humidity came up a little after the rain, but the DA didn't change much, dropped only about 100 feet. I was watching the cars ahead of me and they were all running close to their numbers so I figured I was safe.

As I pull up the guy in the front of me calls the starting line guy over and starts talking to him about something, he's showing him a piece of paper and motioning... So I sat there with the motor running and the heat building. Finally he goes up. Then as I pull up my temp gauge went way past 190 then came back down. I've never seen it do that before so I was a little nervous. .013 RT, 1.702 60', 12.413 @ 106.58. The other guy ran a 12.227 on a 12.22. I broke way out, by over a tenth. I have no clue why it picked up so much speed, I was thinking maybe I left my rear bumper at the starting line and it was much lighter. But a quick checked showed that the bumper was still attached. The 60' was only slightly better than the last runs, the rest of the incrementals were close until around the 1000 foot mark where it just took off. No idea what happened there, but I lost. :-(

It was a fun day, though, my brother and my neighbor both went with me. They're both Chevy guys, but they were impressed with a lot of the cars running, especially the SS/AH cars.

Got a lot of pics, too: http://www.burwoodboysracing.com/gallery/2006_Mopar_Nationals

Sounds Like fun Mike,
Maybe you got a tail wind at the last 320'
I dunno... The wind was blowing towards the starting line all day, maybe it just died out?
