Got new radiator and right now have about 1/2" between fan and radiator. Is this good or should I pull the 1" spacer and open the clearance up? On a 66 Barracuda and has the solid 4 blade fan

Cool. No it's not a flex fan, just haven't had a fan that close.

adding a shroud to it will make it cool even better... if you really worried about it swap for a 1/2 in spacer...

If it were me, I'd add a little more clearence between the fan and the radiator. If the engine mounts get mushy or break, the engine could shift forward more than a 1/2" easily. Even with good mounts, if you had to make a hard stop or ran the wheels up against a curb or parking bumper, the engine could rock far enough to do the same damage. I like enough clearence to run my fingers in front of the fan bolts or blades....3/4" or so.
