Pine ‘N Lime Pre-Cobra: 1978 Ford XC Falcon​

1-of-13 1978 Ford XC Falcon 500 GS Hardtop that was built by Ford’s “Parts and Accessories” workshop prior to building the 30 so-called “Bathurst Cobra” hardtops that came shortly thereafter.
A limited slip, four-wheel disc brakes, dual exhaust, “Sports Handling” suspension and a 5.8L V8 paired to a four-speed manual gearbox.

mustang II was the beginning of the 5.0 liter era.

Could be had in a fastback body with a manual trans and rack and pinion steering...and t tops.

Not terrible in that form.

The 5.0 in the Mustang II era made a miserable 120 hp or so. It wasn't until the 82 fox body that hp started to creep up, though it was still marginal at 157 hp and still a 2 bbl carb. Ford finally got smart and gave it a 4 bbl in 83, and 175 net hp. From there it only got better.
 
Australia's safety and emissions laws didn't kick in until later in the decade.

Not sure about insurance.
