i have a shortened 8 3/4 rear that I am assembling. I got the axles from dr diff. Along with a brake rebuild kit. When looking at the manual, the pics show 2 gaskets on the axle shaft. I somehow have 3 gaskets. I cannot find a picture that shows wear the backing plate goes. This has the green bearings upgrade from dr diff. Does the order of install go. ...... housing end, foam gasket, backing plate, metal gasket, felt gasket, retainer, Nuts.. which way does the metal gasket go? Lip facing up towards the carrier or the tire?

I would assume, gasket, backing plate, gasket, retainer.

You parts from Dr diff might have some duplicate parts. Like a bearing kit might have a gasket and a seal kit might have the same gasket also.

Email Cass, he has replied to my emails on a Sunday, he is the best!

I believe your correct on the order and don't think it makes a difference which way the metal gasket goes but every one I took apart had the lip facing the wheel. I haven't seen those black fiber gaskets you have but I'd assume their just replacements for the white foam gaskets

Install the beaded steel gasket between the housing and brake backing plate.

Install the dark gray gasket between the brake backing plate and 5-hole wheel bearing retainer.

The white foam gasket is not used in your application.

You are awesome. Thank you. Is there an instruction page I have lost or am I just clueless. Thanks for the help
